When organisations relocate offices, it gives them the chance not only to review what they need from a new space but also what technology would be best suited to their objectives moving forward. For companies who are late in joining the digital workplace, understanding what technology is be best suited to their organisation can be a challenge. Having a trusted partner in this field can remove many headaches and ensure the selected technology is right for an organisation, now and in the future.

Cinos takes rg+p into the digital workplace with Crestron Mercury

This was the case when in 2017, multidisciplinary architectural design company rg+p was looking to relocate their Leicestershire office. The old office’s layout had meant working in teams was a challenge but the move to an open plan office presented rg+p with a blank canvas to define what they wanted from their workplace. In line with the refurbishment project, and with rg+p’s limited experience in the audio-visual market, Cinos were invited to advise on the best suited technology for their new spaces.

The new office contained several meeting spaces including a boardroom, main meeting room and smaller one-on-one breakout areas. Until the move, rg+p had used paper based products such as flip charts to collaborate with teams on architectural designs and schematics. After in-depth discussions on the various technology options, it was decided Crestron Mercury would be the perfect fit for rg+p as it combines all the must-have conferencing and collaboration tools into one device.

Video Conferencing

The video enabled version of Mercury was installed in the main meeting room; a key area where employees can connect and collaborate with remote teams, clients and partners. For video conferencing, Mercury offers some key advantages over other room-based systems. As well as delivering a native Skype for Business experience, Mercury is the only room solution to support any video conferencing platform. Should a third party being using a different system, employees can simply connect their laptop to Mercury and initiate a full video conference.

Audio Conferencing

In the smaller breakout areas rg+p did not require video enabled devices and so Cinos installed the audio version of Mercury. As a full SIP conference phone, Mercury’s excellent microphone and speaker quality ensures a crystal-clear audio conference for employees in these spaces. Furthermore, any Bluetooth enabled smartphone can connect to Mercury; turning the phone into a room conferencing system.

Wireless Presentation

In addition to the array of conferencing options Mercury offers, the built-in Crestron AirMedia gateway allows wireless presentation from Wi-Fi connected devices such as laptops, smartphones and tablets. So, whether employees are on a conference or working together in the room, having key documentation onscreen for all to see enables everyone to collaborate quickly and more effectively.

There is no doubt the installation of Crestron Mercury and supporting technology has significantly enhanced the collaborative capabilities of rg+p. Not only has this simple to use system encouraged a companywide adoption, it has reduced rg+p’s carbon footprint.
