What does Microsoft’s end of certification for Android 10 mean for my Poly devices?
Microsoft has announced that Teams Rooms devices running Android 10 will no longer be certified after September 2025. While first-generation Poly devices will continue to function, including registering to Teams and making calls, they will no longer meet Microsoft’s official certification standards.
Certification is important because video app providers, including Microsoft, Zoom, and Google, set parameters for which Android versions they support. Over time, uncertified devices may face limited compatibility, reduced feature updates, and a shorter support lifecycle.
There is no upgrade path for first-generation devices to run Android 13, as their processors do not support newer OS versions. However, Poly Gen 2 devices will support Android 13, ensuring long-term compatibility with collaboration platforms.
