Introduction

An international luxury hotel and resort company, operating more than 100 hotels worldwide.

A hotel site located in Hampshire, England contacted Cinos to deliver a range of audio-visual upgrades as part of a large refurbishment project. Cinos was commissioned to install modern audio-visual solutions that would take guests experience to another level.

The Requirement

As part of the refurbishment, the hotel had three main requirements. To deliver an easy-to-use, multi-zone audio system that would deliver music to the Reception area, Library Bar, Restaurant and Drawing room. As well as enhance the user experiences in both the Drawing Room and Royal Suite.

The Solution

Multi-zone audio system

Sonos was the chosen solution. It enabled the client to stream audio from many subscription-based services such as Spotify and create playlists for quick and easy selection based on time of day, mood, or occasion.

Each zone contained a Sonos Connect media player, amplifier and a varying number of ceiling speakers, strategically positioned to provide optimal audio coverage. The Sonos app provided control of the system via a tablet housed in reception. From the tablet, users can control the audio sources and volumes in each zone. To minimise technology frustrations, the tablet was programmed so that the Sonos app is permanently running, preventing access to other apps or the internet.

The Drawing Room

To deliver a first class meeting room environment for both internal and external meetings, Cinos installed a range of new solutions.

As well as providing local HDMI and VGA connectivity, Cinos installed the Barco ClickShare CSE-200 to enable wireless presentations on the 90” NEC display. Users can either connect a USB button to their laptop, or share content directly from their device using the ClickShare app.

To ensure a seamless user experience, Cinos integrated a range of AMX technologies. The AMX all-in-one presentation switcher sits at the heart of the solution, enabling the switching of video inputs. User control was delivered through a customised AMX Touch Panel, connected to an NX integrated controller. With a few simple commands, users can switch between video inputs and initiate audio conferences.

Cinos have delivered significant audio-visual upgrades fit for a luxury hotel chain. Our client can now distribute audio across multiple zones with ease, offer a first-class meeting room experience and provide a distinctive, memorable experience for guests staying in the Royal Suite.

The Royal Suite

Finally, Cinos were required to deliver an easy-to-use system to control the audio, television, lighting and curtains in the Royal Suite; one of the most luxurious suites in the hotel.

The room system is controlled by a tablet, with an AMX controller and Denon AV receiver installed in the suite equipment rack to ensure seamless control of AV room equipment. Two audio inputs were added to the room for guest devices. A further HDMI wall plate was installed and connected to the TV, enabling guests to connect laptops and games consoles; a scenario that is rarely available in hotel suites.

Tablet controls include:

  • Open and close suite curtains and sheers

  • Full lighting control plus 5 pre-set configurations

  • Audio source selection and volume control in the lounge and dining room

  • Television source selection including IPTV, Blu-ray player, Apple TV and HDMI input

  • Television and Blu-ray controls including channel selection, scene selection and power down

The Benefits

  • Manage all audio through a single, robust platform

  • Created an intuitive, flexible, reliable and secure meeting experience for the Drawing Room, which guests and staff can customise to suit their needs
  • Barco ClickShare enables users to share content on the meeting room screen with the click of a button

  • A distinctive and memorable experience for guests and visitors staying in the Royal Suite
