Job Purpose
The Junior Mobile App Developer supports the development and maintenance of mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms. This role is ideal for someone early in their development career — such as a recent graduate or apprentice — who is passionate about mobile technology and eager to learn. The successful candidate will work under the mentorship of senior developers and gain exposure to real-world engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in building and testing native mobile applications for iOS and Android.
Collaborate with developers, designers, and testers to learn how mobile products are planned and developed.
Contribute to new feature development, bug fixing, and UI improvements under guidance.
Participate in code reviews and team development discussions.
Learn to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
Help with QA testing and post-release support as needed.
Engage in self-learning and training opportunities to improve technical skills.
Maintain documentation related to mobile development tasks and best practices.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Demonstrable interest in mobile app development (e.g. coursework, personal projects, bootcamp, etc.).
Basic knowledge of one or more of the following:
- iOS (Swift, Objective-C)
- Android (Kotlin, Java)
Understanding of basic software development concepts (e.g. variables, conditionals, loops, version control).
Eagerness to learn and apply feedback in a team setting.
Good communication skills and willingness to ask questions.
Desirable
Exposure to cross-platform tools such as:
- React Native
- Flutter / Dart
Experience working on a mobile app project (e.g. personal, academic, open source).
Awareness of app store ecosystems (App Store / Google Play).
Familiarity with Git or version control tools.
Qualifications
Actively studying or recently completed a degree, diploma, or apprenticeship in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related subject.
Open to applicants entering via Apprenticeship schemes or Graduate placements
Working Conditions
Fully remote with flexibility. Core working hours are 9:00am–5:30pm UK time, with flexibility depending on team needs. Occasional in-person meetings or site visits for onboarding, team-building, or learning opportunities (advance notice provided).
